Our Staff
Here at Poplars Blossoms Nursery we believe that every family has the right to OUTSTANIDNG childcare and education. Throughout, our nursery staff understand that different families love and care for their children in varying ways. As such, we will recognise any special requirements or needs and ensure that they are respected in line with our Equal Opportunities and Special Needs and Inclusion Policy.

Our recruitment and selection process is strict to maintain high calibre staff who are dedicated to meeting the needs of your children. All of our staff are properly vetted in line with our Safeguarding Children Policy and at least 90% of staff are qualified to NVQ Level 3. Our nursery does not deem NVQ Level 2 as sufficiently qualified and as such all staff must train towards the Level 3. All staff receive in-house training and are encouraged to attain higher qualifications to ensure that they can provide childcare and education to the very highest standards. Learning is seen as a lifelong process for all who come into contact with our nursery, whether children, staff or parents.
We enforce a strict visitor and collection procedure, which assures parents that their child is safe, at all times. Parents and visitors are always welcomed into the nursery school in person and escorted out, allowing effective communication as well as upholding security.
We are dedicated to the continued improvement of our staff and invest in their personal and professional development, supporting the team through regular appraisals, observations, training courses and direct training on the nursery floor. We’re committed to quality training for unqualified staff and have a trained member of the management team to support each trainee. We also encourage our qualified and senior staff to access higher education, which is essential for the development of quality and new ideas.
We also ensure that they become experts in health and safety, and all staff hold an introduction to safeguarding children as well as basic first aid certificates - although first aid is usually only administered by nominated senior staff.
We believe that your child needs continuity and consistency whilst in our care, which is why we have up to five floating members of staff. Carrying these floats means that when staff members are on annual leave or out on training, additional supply staff are not required. This supports you as our usual high standards are maintained and your child will always be in the company of carers they recognise and trust.
We feel strongly that our staff are our main asset and if the staff are happy, this means happy children and happy parents. This was affirmed when Investor’s in People assessed the team and awarded them with the accolade, which is regularly reviewed.
We value the input of parents and take the time to share information and listen to their concerns, so our friendly and approachable team can respond effectively and appropriately, encouraging confidence and trust in our services.
